Now accepting students for private lessons and ensemble coachings
for Summer 2019
David has over a decade of performing and educating experience. Currently he is the Lead High Brass Instructor at Kalamazoo Kids in Tune, an elementary and middle-school orchestral immersion program. In the past he has maintained private studios with students of all ages, has been a staff instructor with Legends Drum and Bugle Corps, and multiple award-winning high school marching bands across the state of Michigan.
Whether your student is just beginning or is preparing for college auditions, David will provide challenging lessons that push students to fulfill their potential. Using a holistic approach, David evaluates the student's skill level on their instrument as well as their personal goals for growth to develop an individualized plan for achievement in life as well as the chosen area of instruction.
Science tells us that it is much harder to learn and retain new information if you're not having fun! Though the end goal is student growth and success, I ensure retention by keeping lessons fun and engaging using varied teaching styles, techniques, and focusing on multiple related areas of development. I believe that personal development is as important as (and sometimes more than) musical growth and that is reflected in my teaching style.
